When we go out intending to make much of Jesus, God goes with us to show His strength and His power.
25 people from the US, Canada and Mexico came together to bless the indigenous peoples of Mexico and it happened!
Some evidences of God's presence with our team:
Terrific weather. We were expecting the coldest Caborca to date, and it was really good. It was raining hard in PHX even as we loaded the RV the night before the trip. (not a drop, the whole week...an answer to prayer.
Love. We prayed that God would give us favor with the people we were going to meet. We sensed a real love and concern for the wonderful people we met in the camps and towns of this region.
Transformation. We distributed recordings of the gospel to about 500 people. (many can not read, so the recordings are key.) We touched 14 different people groups of Mexico. (Nahuatl, Chol, Tzeltal, Mixteco, etc.)
For the first time! It is amazing to me that as we went to one small community called "Siempre Viva" or Live Forever. There were whole families who had never heard the good news of Jesus Christ.
Jonatan. At the beginning of the night in one of the communities, we met 3 young men. (15-16) Jonatan already had 2 children and was a drug runner. He had no idea about the good news of Jesus Christ. We spoke for a little while and then the movie "Magdalena" was going to begin. I asked him to stay for the film about Jesus and then we would talk more. He did. At the end of the video he and several other towns people publically professed a desire to follow Jesus.
Heavenly battle. Even after Jonatan told us he wanted to follow Christ, he did not know if he could quit his "job". It was all he had to do and was good at it. There is a strong temptation to do this type of work because of low wages and scarcity of jobs. Would YOU pray for Jonatan. Our enemy would love to destroy this young man. (He is good at that.)
Pray for all the people who received the gospel materials. That God would transform their lives by knowing Jesus. This is eternal life.
"When are you coming back?"
That is the question we got many many times. It was heartbreaking know all the spiritual needs that were there. Thank you who helped send us. Will you go?
